San Francisco, Calif. – July 18, 2011SFL Data, the first provider of a fixed-price eDiscovery managed service for corporations and law firms, is sponsoring the Carmel Valley eDiscovery Retreat in Carmel, Calif. on July 17-20, 2011. CEO Christian Lawrence will join the “Working Together Effectively” Panel on July 18, discussing how to move toward an effective collaboration between outside counsel, in-house personnel and an eDiscovery vendor. VP of Discovery Troy Dunham will join the “From Identification to Production – Managing eDiscovery, A Business Process” Panel on July 19, exploring how the discovery process can be supported by various technology and service solutions.

“Many litigants don’t realize that eDiscovery doesn’t have to be such a headache. Communication lines, role definition and a timetable can be established early to tighten the process. In fact, that’s the basis of SFL Data’s new SmartSetup™ phase,” said Lawrence. “As long as you have seasoned veterans on your team, potential pitfalls like sanctions or motion practices can be avoided.”

The “Working Together Effectively” Panel moderated by George Socha of Socha Consulting LLC, will focus on the elements of an effective action plan that results in a successful partnership between all parties. Lawrence will discuss reporting and documentation, trust and relationship building, deadline management, leveraged decisions and ”shared wins”.

The “From Identification to Production” Panel will focus on eDiscovery as a business strategy and will be moderated by Barry Murphy of eDiscovery Journal. Dunham will share tips on how to evaluate the case by determining the scope of the engagement, the nature of each matter, and the actions needed to proactively work towards litigation goals.
